Hoop Bin, 2018

This initiative addresses the BetterBin Competition, a challenge aimed at reimagining the litter bins of New York City.

Hoop Bin represents the transformation of the iconic NYC trash bin into an exoskeleton structure. The familiar litter basket undergoes a radical change, where the solid frame separates from the mesh, forming an external structural skeleton that supports and safeguards a flexible metal interior.

The materials and production techniques employed in creating Hoop Bin result in a cost-effective and durable waste container. It offers several advantages, including secondary handles and reduced weight for easier handling during maintenance. This inventive design not only enhances the overall aesthetics but also allows for the replacement of the outer frame or inner sleeve (if necessary), ensuring its longevity and robustness.
