Transit Control Cabins
at UCV
1996

Caracas, Venezuela

These surveillance booths were specifically designed to monitor and ensure vehicular safety on the campus of the Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas. This project, commissioned by the Instituto de Desarrollo Experimental de la Construcción – IDEC, was manufactured at the facilities of the now-defunct El Laurel plant.

The booths feature a robust tubular steel structure and five reinforced fiberglass molded pieces. The roof, composed of two sections, spans nearly two meters, as do the side panels. The rear section includes a storage space and a bench made of algarrobo wood, a native Venezuelan species.

The Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas, renowned for its architectural significance, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
